Description

There are four types of communication – verbal, non-verbal, written and Visual Communication.

Verbal communication is the most common type of communication. It involves use of words for sharing communication, either through face-to-face or through other channels such as mobile phone. Non verbal communication refers to gestures, facial expressions, tone of voice, eye contact, body language, posture and other ways people can communicate without language. Written communication refers to communicating through writing, typing or printing while Visual communication uses graphs, charts, photographs, videos and the like for exchanging information.

Communication can be Intrapersonal (internal) or Interpersonal in form. The formal refers to communication with oneself through one’s own thought, feeling or ideas. It is essential for tasks such as planning, problem solving, self-evaluation and others. Interpersonal communication involves two or more persons.
